Going to the Theatre in Palermo: Tickets & Dress Code
Palermo has many theatres, and the most popular one is Teatro Massimo, the largest opera house in Italy. If you’re not Italian, it’s better to understand in advance how to buy tickets.
Of course, you can buy tickets online for any theatre in Palermo. But when buying online, you’re often asked for an Italian phone number and even a tax code. So if going to the theatre is a must for you, check the ticket-buying process in advance.
The second option is to buy tickets at the theatre box office. Here, it’s important to keep the opening hours in mind. Theatre box offices often open in the morning and again in the evening, closer to the performance. So I recommend checking the box office opening hours beforehand and finding time to buy your tickets in advance.
Another question many visitors have is the dress code. The good news is that there’s no strict dress code. People go to the theatre in sneakers, and no one stops them. Of course, you may be stopped if you turn up in beachwear or a tracksuit, but smart casual is absolutely fine.
One more detail. If you’re going to the theatre in summer, especially on very hot days, it will be hot inside too. A hand fan will come in very handy.
